Making Space for Transformation

Therapy is a personal process, and having dedicated time to explore your experiences, develop insight, and work toward meaningful change is an important part of that journey.

Appointments are available Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., depending on availability. All sessions are scheduled by appointment only.

In-Person or Virtual Psychotherapy

In-person sessions are available at my Pleasant Ridge, Michigan office, providing a dedicated environment for therapeutic exploration, healing, and personal growth. Individual psychotherapy sessions generally last 45–55 minutes.

For clients who prefer the convenience and accessibility of Virtual Online therapy, I also offer virtual appointments through a HIPAA-compliant video platform.

Virtual sessions provide an opportunity to engage in meaningful therapeutic work from a private, comfortable location while maintaining the personal connection and individualized approach central to our work together.

Who I Serve

You Are Your Own Magnum Opus

Melanie Popiolek, MA, LPC, NCC Alchemy Transforms individualized psychotherapy, specialized clinical training in trauma treatment, grief, and emotional healing.

Individualized Psychotherapy for Adults

I currently provide individual psychotherapy for adults ages 18 and older through both online and in-person sessions.

Therapy is a deeply personal experience. I offer highly individualized psychotherapy that takes into account the whole person, recognizing that who we are and how we experience the world are shaped by far more than our thoughts, emotions, or individual circumstances.

Together, we will explore your experiences through an understanding of the physical, psychological, social, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of your life, while also considering your individual characteristics, personal values, and the many influences woven into the environment around you.

Our experiences cannot be separated from the cultural, social, and environmental contexts in which we live. The demands of everyday life, our relationships, our communities, and the larger world all influence how we understand ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. These influences deserve recognition and consideration as part of the therapeutic process.

I believe that meaningful psychotherapy begins with understanding and honoring the whole person.

People seek psychotherapy for many different reasons.

What Brings You to Therapy?

Sometimes we have a clear understanding of what is causing us distress. Other times, we recognize patterns in our thoughts, emotions, relationships, or behaviors that we struggle to understand or change.

Although I work with a broad range of mental health concerns, I have extensive experience treating psychological trauma and the many ways it can influence our lives.

Trauma does not always present itself through recognizable memories or symptoms of posttraumatic stress. Its effects can also be experienced through anxiety, depression, difficulties with emotional regulation, relationship patterns, changes in self-perception, and challenges with attention, concentration, or executive functioning.

I believe it is important to explore not only the symptoms a person is experiencing, but also the underlying experiences and circumstances that may be contributing to them.

This allows us to develop a more complete understanding of what is happening rather than focusing exclusively on symptom reduction.

Areas of Clinical Focus

Understanding the Whole Experience

Not every experience that creates emotional discomfort or challenges our understanding of ourselves is necessarily a symptom of psychological dysfunction.

Some experiences may be connected to heightened emotional sensitivity, personal beliefs, spiritual exploration, or significant changes in how we perceive ourselves and the world.

I believe these experiences deserve thoughtful exploration within the context of each person's life, culture, beliefs, and circumstances.

My role is to approach them with curiosity and clinical care, recognizing their personal meaning while also considering whether they may be contributing to distress or difficulties in everyday life.

The goal is not simply to identify what may be wrong, but to develop a deeper understanding of what you are experiencing, why it may be occurring, and how that understanding can support your healing and personal growth.

How I Work

My work draws from specialized clinical training in trauma treatment, grief, and emotional healing, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), the Flash Technique, and Induced After-Death Communication (IADC).

I also offer opportunities to explore spiritual and symbolic practices, including tarot and other esoteric traditions, when they are meaningful to the individual client and appropriate to their therapeutic goals.

Each treatment experience is developed collaboratively, with respect for your needs, preferences, beliefs, and personal circumstances.

Looking Ahead

I also plan to offer group psychotherapy in the future, providing opportunities for individuals to explore shared experiences, develop greater self-awareness, and connect with others through the therapeutic process.

Stay tuned for future group offerings!
